Clip to ScrapBook #1

Looks like I might be our districts 4th grade Virtual Learning teacher to start the year. Any good sites/ideas out there to get me going?

Thanks

Do you use Google?

Nearpod has some awesome presentations and a wide variety of topics to use. They are interactice and the paid version gets you the ability to post them student-paced. THey have interactive slides that gives you the opportunity to use them for assesment if you wish, and checking for understand in teacher mode.

Readworks.org is a great reading site. You can assign students with specific pieces by standard or topic. There are questions and vocabulary built in.

Kahn academy is good for videos and lessons.

I love Google classroom for housing student material and assignments. I love the grading features built in. You can add rubrics to assignments and grading is pretty quick that way. Now you can download the grades to a nifty Google Sheet.

If you have a Mac you can make screen recording or video recordings that you can post to the classroom. I love it. They are easy to do. I use imovie if I need to cut anything out. Video directions are get to add to assignments in case students need to review material again.

What specifics are you looking for?

I found that my 4th graders loved to Zoom and be together no matter what we were doing. I often shared the screen and we read aloud. There is a shared remote feature on Zoom that allows the student to move the cursor, etc while you also have control.
UFLI has a virtual learning hub for reading with some resources that can be applied to all courses - like the sheet with videos on how to use different tools to teach.
I hope you and your students find many opportunities to enjoy your learning.

I'll look into the Nearpod! I already use Readworks and Kahn, so I'm familiar with those. We are having some Google Classroom training at our PD next week, so I'm hoping to get LOTS of information.

Our way of delivering instruction is through Zoom.
Our platform for assignments is Google Classroom.
I also use SeeSaw for some activities.
