Choice Board Ideas?

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Does anyone have any ideas for activities (for beginning of year K's) that could go on a choice board for "station" style activities for distance learning? Especially ones that don't involve any special supplies, or for which supplies can be varied. Everything's helter skelter, and I don't know what my students have/don't have, and I'm really scratching my brain for some ideas that move away from more screen time.

Can they print things as part of their choice board?

I was working on something similar but used lots of screen time. ;0

Here is a sight to look at: https://movemountainsinkindergarten.com/choice-boards/

  • Go on a walk - how many bugs/trees/whatever do you see?
  • Count the windows/doors/chairs/etc in your house.
  • Play a board game.
  • Draw a picture of your favorite meal or snack. Dictate to an adult how to make it.
  • Make a counting collection for #s 1-5 or 1-10 - it can be a collection of anything.
  • Help your parents set the table. How many forks did you use? Knives? Spoons? How many in all?
  • Draw a picture of your family/pet/favorite anything.
  • Find 5 things that are red/round/heavy/etc.
  • Count your stuffed animals.
  • Make a house for your favorite stuffed animal with recyclables.
  • How many times can you hop on your right foot? Left?
  • Balance on one foot. Have someone time you. Which foot can you balance on the longest?

I'm using Canvas and my weekly assignments format is a choice board

I have three sections:

Green:
Starfall.com, ABCya.com and Boom cards. When they click on the icon is takes them to the webpage

Yellow:
Youtube episodes of AlphaBlocks, NumberBlocks, and Math Monsters. Again, click on the picture and it takes them straight to the video

Pink:
Printable worksheets for math and reading, and a non-digital learning calendar which includes things like taking walks, building reading forts, etc

I taught my kids that they can click on yellow and green and do those activities by themselves, and they can click on pink for things to do with mom and dads help.

I told parents to pick one activity from each category a day. One video, one game, and one paper or non-digital activity.

Thanks everyone! If anyone else has ideas, feel free to add. I'm ok with virtual activities too, just harder to find others! I had them counting random things today. Also, build/create numbers out of something (play dough, legos, etc). Write numbers in colorful ways. Etc.
