It’s been a while since I’ve taught, so my memory may be fuzzy on exact titles...

Not sure if you want novels for study or to ignite a desire for reading...

The Outsiders (SE Hinton) is still a popular book if the thickness of a book doesn’t turn off a reader. It’s not thick , really, but some kids look at that first.

A popular series of 6 was Seal Team Six (think it was called that). 6 thinner books, each one dealing with a Seal Team member. Military realistic fiction that many of my students enjoyed.

James Dashner books of The Maze Runner fame.

Enders Game - think it’s a trilogy.

The Giver by Lowry

Alex Rider series by Horowitz

Neil Gaimen books such as The Graveyard Book

Hope this helps.

Downriver or Bearstone, or any books by Will Hobbs are great for all middle school kids. Will Hobbs is a former Middle School teacher and his stories are mostly based in the Southwest, with some based in Alaska. Often his main character will be a kid struggling with fitting into society. I love his books!
