Processing Issues?

Hi all!
I have a student in my 4th grade teacher who is in intervention for both math and reading, but can play chess fairly well. Dyslexia was ruled out, and it doesn't seem to be ADD, but there seems to be a processing issue. His fine motor skills are not very good - illegible handwriting and poor cutting. He still omits capitals, punctuation, and words when he writes, can't retell directions (even one step at a time), and often loses his train of thought when speaking. I always ask him to do one problem, question, etc. and then show me. 8 out of 10 times he has done that one incorrectly. Any ideas that I can use to help him be successful?

Have you talked to the Speech Therapist in your building? Some kids don't process language easily.
