Smartboard Rules

I used to have the smartboard notebook program on my home computer but the computer crashed and we had to get a new one. Now, our tech guy thinks that the company changed their policies and it isn't allowed anymore for the teachers to have the program on their home computers. Does anyone know what their rules are?

Notebook Express? It is a free program that allows you to look at, edit, create notebook files. I have it on my home computer. We are using Wii for our Smartboard (can't afford a real one), so I can't download it from smartboard. It seems to work for me.

We all ahve it but you do need to know the number that is for the smartboard in your classroom. Otherwise you can get a 30 day trial.

They did put a limit on the number of computer that could be licensed under one number, but it is more than one per board, just not sure how many. You can get the serial number off of your board at school, that is the code you need for the notebook program. Or you could redownload it every 30 days.

I knew you could view notebook files, but you can actually create a new file with it? If one of my teachers uses this, they can make a lesson just as they would in the actual notebook? do you know what the differences are?

thanks so much
dee

Very Limited

It is very limited. I haven't really tried to do much on it, but you are able to do some things on it. I really use it the most to see if the ones I find at home are worth saving or if they have a page or two I'd use. I delete pages I don't want, save it, add text if I want, save it under a new name on my computer, and either email or add it to flashdrive to download on school computer. I then do any extra editing.
It doesn't have all the fancy things. I think you would have to play with it. (Computer savvy people could probably get around some of it.)
You could at least start or edit something and finish it at school. You can type/edit text (if it's not locked), draw with a pen, delete pages from a file you don't want. I couldn't add a background or unlock/lock things.

I coincidentally just downloaded the 30 day trial. I am going to school tomorrow to check with the teacher who just got her board. She'll have the code to get the permanent copy.

I think we were allowed to use the software 15 times per smartboard purchased.
