I am starting a 6-8 grade show choir in my school. Our choir director and I are good friends and she will help me out - but I am looking for more help. Do any of you have a middle school show choir? How is it run? Do you have try-outs? What types of music do you use and where do you purchase it? Thanks!

I would have try outs. Mainly to see if they can sing and move at the same time...smile. Before buying any music see what your friend has. There are lots of really neat pieces out there for swing choirs. I usually use the ones with the prerecorded backup CDs. Just makes my life easier.

Here are some web sites:

Check with your music teacher friend to see which one the district approves of.

There is also a music board here that has some great people on it that may be able to help more than I can.
