Clip to ScrapBook #1

Each year I find I am introducing more and more artists to my preschool class. This year I'd like to focus on a different artist each month. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Ways to organize it? thanks!!

I was doing artist of the month by the artist birthdays. Now with three year olds I'm going more by concepts they can understand to harder ones each month.
Pollock- splatter paint
Seurat- pointillism and dot art
Picasso- collages
Kandinsky- paint to music
Michelangelo & Raphael- lay down painting
Mondrian- rectangles, red, yellow, black
Van Gogh- still life or starry night themes

Stories of tragedy associated with the artist's lives..

Mattisse being bed ridden and drawing with charcoal attached to the end of a fishing pole.

Kahlo being impaled on a hand railing from a trolly.

Van Gogh cutting off his ear.

I profiled an artist, showed slides, read stories...used their medium, or focued on their subject matter.
