Waitress’ job of how I would do it. Our grammar program taught that 99% of the time it is “‘s” - even if the word ends in s.

Some programs donteach that is it just an apostrophe after any word that ends in s A singular or plural.

My last name ends in “s” and I have always been picky about apostrophes and where they go!

Waitress's job. It's always correct to add 's to any singular noun to make it possessive, even if it ends in s. The King James version of the Bible often does it in an archaic style-like Moses' tablets-but that's not common, modern usage.

*You would actually pronounce the 's in this word making it three syllables. You wouldn't pronounce it "waitress job" which waitress' would suggest.

It is the waitress's job to take the orders.
