Clip to ScrapBook #1

We have an early evening club that meets every week, where parents typically drop their kids off and pick them up after. Were having a family Christmas celebration night next week, where we hope/expect families to come and stay with their kids for the duration of the event to do some activities and eat treats.

How would you word this on a flyer to prevent parents from dropping off kids? It will be hectic, so Im worried a kid could possibly get lost among the crowd and we dont know hes come alone.

I'd use large letters on the flyer and maybe enlist the kids' help. :-) (If the kids are old enough, make sure they understand and reinforce the "family" nature of the event. People are creatures of habit and rarely read carefully.)

You might even consider headlining the flyer with something like, "Our regular meeting has been canceled and replaced with a Family Celebration."

Another option might be to include an RSVP tear off on the flyer... that would make sense depending on how big the club is. You'll have some idea of how many to expect.

Lastly, have a plan for the kids who do get dropped off--maybe some sort of "check in" process. I'll bet there will be a few.

I once supervised a small group of middle school kids on a bit of a field trip/concert with lots of kids present from different schools. We arrived as a group but we were leaving as individuals since parents were attending the evening concert. One of the very few non-negotiable rules we had was "You have to introduce me to your parent before you leave at the end of the concert."

Would it be possible for families to sign in with someone at the door? That would be one more reminder that children are not to be dropped off.
