I'd like everyone's thoughts on Due Process. Is due process required prior to after school detention?

No, I don't believe so. I think due process only applies to severe infractions and disciplinary actions so severe that they would affect the students' permanent record, like suspensions or expulsions. It would make sense, though, that if a student was assigned an after school detention, but was not able to attend due to transportation issues; then another similar consequence would be made available--like lunch detention.

It's a behavior form to fill out for behavior infractions from Ruby Payne as well as I can recall (I've been retired awhile).

what did you do? (Due process, self incrimination, but we don't say that part)

When you did that, what did you want?

What can you do/say next time? (At least 3 spaces for alternatives)
