What are you looking forward to this week? What are you not looking forward to this week?

Looking Forward to

Enjoying my book...it's so good!
Some of the lessons I have planned
Spending time with class; they are getting to the point where they know what I expect
Google Meet with my niece in about 10 minutes
Google Meet with all of my cousins and their kids on Halloween
Left over pizza from my favorite pizza place tonight for dinner
My birthday
All Saints Day Mass on Sunday

Not Looking Forward to
Grading papers tonight and doing other things for school that might prevent me from reading my book tonight!
Halloween Party (I hate class parties because of the craziness the kids get)
Colder weather
Report Cards

Looking forward to:
--> A teacher work day on Friday
--> Less planning needed due to workday and Halloween shenanigans on Thursday
--> Showing my students a Bill Nye video about Climate
--> Having my class build "Halloween Arrays" as a fun, Halloween-themed math activity
--> Watching my brother live-stream my favorite video game

Not looking forward to:
--> Missing most of my planning time on Wednesday due to a bus evacuation drill
--> Faculty Meeting and 2 IEPs
--> The craziness of Halloween celebrations
--> The looming prospect of families switching from online to in-person, thereby upsetting the balance of my classroom [my class is FINALLY starting to settle into my expectations and our classroom rules]
--> Recess duty

We are NOT having Halloween celebrations this year :-) and we would have to do it twice because we're in the hybrid model! No parade, no costumes, no parties :-) I'm a happy camper haha!

We are having kids make masquerade masks and also I'm showing the Magic School Bus Haunted House about Sound. I can handle that!

Looking forward to:
-My book club (via zoom, but still better than nothing) this afternoon
- For once, I am happy it's snowing because it will help all of the wildfires, bring on the snow tonight/tomorrow! And I am grateful I live in a townhouse where I don't have to shovel anything .
-At least as of right now, all of my kids are in person/no quarantines
-Due to all of the covid restrictions, we're just doing a crazy hair day on Friday rather than a Halloween parade and parties. I'm personally happy about that!
-I just discovered that all of the Harry Potter movies are on Peacock for free this month. I watched the first one yesterday and plan to watch one every day this week! I really enjoyed the books, but never reread them after they each first came out, and I've only seen the movies in theaters. So I don't remember all of the plot points, which makes for a fun rewatch!

Not looking forward to:
-Watching our tracker/virus numbers to see what the heck we'll be doing with school. Unfortunately numbers keep getting worse and I hate all of the uncertainty. I wonder if this is our last week in person.
-Having no fun Halloween plans due to Covid- double sting since Halloween is on a Saturday this year!

Looking forward to:

*Fun week with students. Lots of Halloween related learning activities! So thankful we are allowed to use holidays to teach concepts!

*Class only party (no parents) on Friday afternoon. No costumes, but they are allowed to dress in Halloween colors. We will have snacks, games, crafts, all donated by parents (who won't be allowed to come).

Not looking forward to:

Looking forward to:
Visiting with my out of town family ... socially distanced
Traveling on country roads... lovely this time of year.
Making our traditional fruit cake ... yes we're THAT family.
Making cards to give as Christmas gifts.

Not looking forward to:
Living in house with a well stocked pantry ... the struggle is real.
Limited outdoor walking time due to frigid temps 25 degrees or lower.

Looking forward to:
- the stove being repaired!! Maybe. On Friday, our guy said he's pretty sure the part is in so when he finds it on Monday, he'll call and schedule an appointment. I'm pretty sure he wants to stop us calling him every week to find out what's going on.
- new washer and dryer coming on Monday. Man couldn't fix the old washer and after the debacle with the stove, we're reluctant to put money into repairing the old one. Also, as we took it out, we noticed it was leaking so we're glad we decided to buy a new set.
- the Art class I teach on Tuesday after school
- I'm helping Boy pack up his apartment to move in with his lovely GF on Saturday
- Halloween candy dispersal with a 2 metre long tube where I'll use tongs to put the candy in the top and the children (I'm pretty sure there won't be very many) will hold their loot bags at the bottom.

Not looking forward to:
- paying for the washer/dryer and oven repairs.
- the cold, rainy season is upon us. sigh
