This may take a while:

Plymouth Horizon (traded in for $100)
Chevy Cavalier (Sold at 120,000 miles)
Ford Taurus (Sold to neice)
Ford Mustang - My favorite car ever. Manual transmission. DH talked me into selling it after 2 years. Boo. I still regret that decision.
A car I can't remember - lemon - sold after 2 years
Dodge Caravan - Another vehicle I regret selling
Acura TSX - DH traded the van in for this car. It was nice, but not what I wanted.
Ford F150- DH's choice again. It's a lifted 4 wheel drive truck. We still own it after 15 years.
Subaru Legacy - DH's choice again. I've had it 4 years. Nice enough, but not what I'd choose. I want that Mustang back.

The last car I chose on my own was the Mustang back in 1998. After that our cars were all really family cars, and DH and I drove both at times. I didn't list all the cars that DH usually drove. He is a car person, and for a while it seemed we were buying/selling a car each year. So much money lost on cars. But almost all of ours were purchased used. Except that Mustang. Did I mention how much I liked that Mustang?

Fun topic

1979 Chevy Nova. My friends called it ďthe narc mobileĒ. Sold it for $400 when second DD was born.
Taurus - I loved this car. Got totaled while parked.
Sable - to replace Taurus. Meh. ( I know...itís the same as a Taurus.)
Durango - possible my favorite car ever. I drove it to the ground. It actually, truly blew up on the way to work one morning.
Honda Pilot - current car. I like it for the most part.

Let's see my husband always gave me a car to drive there were many.

Dodge Dart Swinger red

Panel van White hit three things in one day, my husband was a body man, painter

Honda Civic 5 speed 1987 tiny car but fiur door I think. hatchback

Ford Escort 88 mehaf new white manual transmission we kept it.

Plymouth Voyager minivan. Automatic. Blue. Gifted from father-in-law.

Honda 5 speed manual hatchback 4 door 19 92. Blue. Drove it its last mile. Broken axle. Cried when the junk hauler took her away.

Porsche Boxster convertible 6 speed manual. Bright red. No tickets. Sold it at a loss.

Subaru Legacy 1995 manual transmission 5 speed four door peacock green sold it for $400.

Honda Fit 2007. 5 speed manual dark tinted windows. Silver. Salvage title. Got loose for me in a parking lot. I truly love this car.

I've never made a car payment in my life. I've only driven one new car so far. My husband made those payments.

I plan to buy my dream car soon. It's going to be the Crosstrek by Subaru manual transmission heated seats. Something that I can take up into the Lake Tahoe area visit friends up in the snow areas. Drive up and down really bumpy roads and not destroy my car.

I think it would be fun to purchase a new car choosing all the colors and features Etc. This would be a new experience for me. I mean after all there wouldn't be cheap used cars for people to drive unless somebody bought them new.

Belair Chevy fill up with oil and check the gas

4 door Impala few years newer
1970 Oldmobile Vista Cruiser Station Wagon 1st stupid adult mistake financed through GMAC but drove 15 years
added many 2nd cars and 3 trucks Father In Law was great for giving us his cars so he could justify getting a new one Also have a friend who is a trusted used dealer. So we had Fords, Caddie, Toyota, Peugeot, Buicks

Took over my Mom's Ford Focus and drove it until it had 200,000 miles on it. Replaced it with a Hyundai jerk hit me totaled it. Replaced with Ford Fusion which I still own.

We also have a 2014 Subaru

Wow! 52 years of automobiles and trucks and 3 teenage drivers...

Buick le (family car handed down)
Isuzu I mark diesel- not my choice
Toyota trucks (had 2 different ones for over 25 years with some overlap)
Mazda Rx 7 (loved it, but it was a lemon)
Subaru foresters -3 different ones

Still have
Mercedes C-class 17-18 years with 52,000 miles
Lexus RX hybrid 10 years 90,000 miles

Really wondering why we need 2 cars these days. I feel that way about a lot of things that donít get used during covid.

Ford Focus - lemon, traded in after 3 years and countless recalls
Toyota Camry - drove for 12 years, until it finally fell apart.
Toyota Prius - plan to drive forever.

I didn't get my driver's license until age 30, which is when I bought my first car. I'm not really a fan of driving.

1976 Plymouth Valiant - gifted from my parents (learned to drive on it) Sold when we bought our first van
1979 Ford Granada -dh's car when we were married. Sold.
1984 Chevrolet Spectrum. Purchased new and paid too much for it, but we were newbies to car buying. DH has made every dealership pay for that mistake! Totaled in an accident.
1987 Toyota Van - It was a panel van that had been converted to a passenger van. Great vehicle. Drove many years, then died twice within 2 months. Had it repaired and sold it for $1700!
19?? (late 80's early 90's) Plymouth Acclaim. Bought used - Maybe a rental return? Drove until it was dying and then donated
199? - Toyota Camry - bought used and driven until totaled in snow accident by my son
2000 Honda Odyssey - My favorite van. Loved it. Drove over a tree in the road and totaled.
2004 Chevy Malibu - had issues, but went 200,000 miles. Gave to son, who it died on a few years ago.
2004 Honda Odyssey - purchased used in 2007 when other van was crashed. Just died 2 years ago with 200,000 miles on it.
2012 Honda Civic - still running. Purchased to be my commuter car.
2018 Toyota Rav 4 - my DH's car.
WOW! This was interesting to type out!

Oh, fun!

Dodge Lancer ( bought it used, had it 3 years before head gasket went)
Dodge Spirit (Former DH totaled it in an accident)
Hyundai Elantra station wagon ( )
Hyundai Accent (traded it in for new car when it started having issues)
Hyundai Elantra ( still on the road. DD drives it and it is now 13 years old!)
Ford Focus (on year 6 - we decided to keep it until the warranty runs out. I like the car but it has a dual clutch that will be replaced for free as long as I own the car. )

  • 1970-something Chevy Vega - I bought used for $400 at age 18 (in 1982). It died 2 months later.
  • Drove my parents' beater '70s Buick Skylark. Horrible car. The mirror leaked when it rained, water would pool on the bench seats, and you wanted to avoid a left turn (as the driver) because the water would head your way.
  • DH and I bought his grandparents' 1967 Pontiac Bonneville. You could camp overnight in the trunk. The car was huge! It had electric windows, which was remarkable for the age of the car. The only one that didn't work was the driver's side. Not handy.
  • Got handed down from DH's parents their 1970s Ford Pinto. Called it "The Bean". Overheated all the time. We had to carry water with us.
  • Finally in 1988 we bought our first new car, a blue 1988 Toyota Tercel. We got DH a red one a few months later. Donated mine eventually, probably 2003.
  • Sold DH's car when we moved across country, and had just 1 car for a year.
  • Bought green Honda Civic in 1996. 4 door was nice. Kept it past when the kids' learned to drive, but they were uninterested in driving a manual.
  • Inherited my Mom's 1998 green Honda Accord when she died in 2001. Our first automatic. Kids eventually drove this starting in 2012.
  • Wanted to haul more bodies. Bought brand new Kia Sorento with 3 row of seats in 2011. I drive that now.
  • Inherited DH's Dad's 2006 Toyota Prius when he died in 2012. DH drove that for a while, gave to son in 2017.

Used '56 Dodge Coronet sedan on its last legs when I was just sixteen. Cost $65. My very smart brother sold it one year later for $120.

Used '57 silver Chevy with a candy apple red steering wheel and fancy rims. It was my crazy, fun college car.

New '71 Mazda small cream colored pickup. My mother convinced me to trade in my Chevy which she thought was dangerous due to its many modifications.

New '76 Datsun B-210 Honeybee two door white coupe. I drove that car from SoCal down to Mexico City and back through Texas twice.

New '85 Toyota Tercel two door white hatchback with burgundy interior

New '93 Saturn SC2 aquamarine coupe

New 2001 Saturn SC2 silver coupe, my first automatic transmission.

New 2015 Mazda6 silver sedan, my most luxurious (to me) car.

I follow Consumer Reports advice to buy a reliable new car, maintain it well, and drive it into the ground. I've always driven a lot. My current car has close to 120,000 miles on it, and I still think of it as a new car.

Cars I've owned (I don't remember most of the years they were)

1988 1/2 Special Edition Ford Escort - manual- (my favorite car EVER)- totaled in death-defying stunt (don't ask)

Dodge Colt -manual- bottom of the link cheap car but such great gas mileage-- I don't know where it went? I assume I traded it in for my next car

1993 Ford Explorer (new car)- bought when I got my first teaching job (had been my dream car forever). Trade in? Sold ? Don't remember

Honda Odyssey (new car)- bought when expecting our second child in early 2000s and we wanted sliding doors Traded it in

Nissan Rogue (new car)- Ody was needing some serious work, I was tired of driving a minivan, we decided to get something smaller sold to a used place where we bought our next car

It's taking me a REALLY long time to think of the kind of car I have now

It's like an Odyssey (and we considered it when we were getting the Odyssey), but not... also Japanese...

GOT IT! We currently drive a Toyota Sienna I think it's 2011 or 2008 or something. bought used- needed something bigger (surprise- 3 small kids turned into 3 big kids and one cross-country trip with the Rogue and a large dog and lots of luggage and kids was not sustainable)

So, let's see, 21 years of car ownership and 6 cars I've owned. Growing up, I remember in my first 17 years we had about 5 different cars.

When I was 17, my mom bought a new car and gave me her old Honda Accord. It had about 150K miles on it but ran perfectly- I loved that car! Had it all the way through college and would have kept it as it continued to run perfectly, but my first job was in the mountains. My mom was convinced the little Honda wouldn't make it (and probably, she was right).

I bought a Subaru Legacy. Subarus are very popular here. I needed AWD, due to having to drive in the snow, but I wanted a car, not an SUV. Basically Subaru is the only affordable choice so the decision was made for me.

I had that one for 10 years, it was totaled about 1.5 years ago now when someone hit it while it was parked in my apartment complex parking lot. Horrible experience all around, dealing with the insurance company and repair company. The summer after that is when I was looking for my house and after going through that, garage was #1 on my non-negotiable list.

Now that I live "down the mountain" I thought about getting another Accord as I just liked that car so much better. But, even though it's not nearly as much, I'm still expected to drive in snow and I just didn't want to have to worry every time it snowed. I looked at the Subaru Impreza, which is the smaller version, and liked it a little better. Thankfully something occurred to me to check out what insurance would be. Literally more than 2x as much per month. So, I ended up with another Legacy.

Here's the list...

62 Chevy Belair (gave it back to my dad when I got the Cutlass)
80 Cutlass Supreme (wrecked after 3 years)
79 Oldsmobile 98 Regency (eventually gave it to my brother-in-law, who
needed a car)
86 Volvo 240 (eventually gave it to my daughter)
90 Ford Taurus ( eventually gave it to my son)
95 Saturn (still have it -- this car cannot be killed)
99 Infinity I30 (put 200,000 on it, then gave it away)
2002 Lexus LS430 (still have it -- best car ever)
2005 Mercury Grand Marquis (most car for the least money)
2006 Toyota Solar convertible (eventually gave it to my daughter, but my
wife wants it back!)
2006 Ford F150 (still have it -- best truck ever)

There was an 86 Buick Wagon and a 98 Chevrolet Venture in there somewhere, but for the life of me I can't remember where they fit. I gave the wagon to my brother because he needed a car, and I junked the Venture after it had one huge mechanical failure. Both ran well for several years though. GM autos are my least favorite. The front ends start feeling shaky after 80,000 miles.

I take care of my cars myself, which might partly explain their longevity. Bought the Saturn and Taurus new, the rest were bought used.

Honda Civic - Parents got it for me at age 18 in Feb of graduating from HS. It was pushed off the showroom floor. Had the car for about 17 yrs, then still stayed in the household a few more years after I got my next car. Sold it because it was still in good condition.

Nissan Rogue - It was a 2009 model that I got in fall 2008. I still have it now.

VW 412 Station Wagon ($1500) Drove for 5 years and sold it (Big Mistake)

New Honda Odyssey - Drove for 20 years onto death.
Kia Forte - current car. Bought with 9,000 miles on it, now has 12,000. I have apparently become a little old lady driver.
