Do you like hard candy?

Never been much of a fan. I don't even care much for Jolly Ranchers. To me candy isn't candy unless it's something you chew. I ask this because I got caught up in watching some workers make hard candy in a video on FB. It was fascinating until they put it in this stamper and I saw the final product. Somewhere in my mind I recognized it as something great, great, grandmas have on tap.

I often use Starlight mints or butterscotch disks when my mouth is dry or I have a scratchy throat.

I like some hard candy. It depends on the flavor...and I also strongly prefer hard candy that is smooth and doesn't scrape the roof of my mouth.

Butter rum lifesavers are great.

Yes! I wish I didn't, but I just enjoy candy in any shape or consistency. Believe it or not, I can turn away from chocolate way easier than other flavored candy.

That being said, I have a contest with myself to try to suck on the hard candy without biting it. I lose a lot.

Starlight mints, Jolly Ranchers, Werthers toffee, Runts, Lifesavers, sour balls, lemon balls, root beer barrels, brittles. I’ll take them all.

Once in a while, but mostly Werthers. I've never been a Jolly Rancher fan, but back in the days when you could give kids candy, I used to buy the big bag at Costco because 4th graders will clean just about anything for a Jolly Rancher!

Yes I do. I remember my Grandparents had hard candies around for the taking. That blew my mind. Most of it was nasty, ribbons and weird things. (Which I gratefully ate as a kid) But yes, I love the butterscotch disks (don't come across them very often) and the hot cinnamon ones. I have Life Saver Wintergreen mints most days. I love Jolly Rancher Watermelon, Apple, and Fire.

Lol, Susan Teach, I also try not to crunch them, and typically fail.

Are Tootsie Pops considered hard candy? If so, then yes I like hard candies. . In fact, I am enjoying a raspberry one right now.

I don’t like hard candy because I am physically incapable of letting something melt in my mouth—I always chew. I’ll eat a Tootsie Pop, but the goal is to get to the soft middle. I like the very slight crunch of M&Ms. I like Mike & Ike’s and Red Vines. But mostly,
I LOVE M&Ms.

As far as hard candies go, I like Jolly Ranchers and Lifesavers and maybe the occasional Werthers, but I would choose chocolate or something else most of the time.

I do love Runts (especially those bananas!!), but I hadn't though of those as a hard candy since I tend to chew on them. If we go into that category of not-chocolate-but-not-quite-hard-candy, I also loves Spree Spree are my go-to for long car trips (along with Bugles)

I will pick up some Jolly Ranchers if my throat is sore bc I cannot stand cough drops and the like. They burn and taste horrible. There's also this root beer candy Cracker Barrel sells that I get an itch for once in a while. It comes in rolls like Lifesavers. The brand escapes me.

I need something to chew or melt. Starbursts, Reese's Take 5, Snickers, Almond Joy, and red Twizzlers are all my faves.

Yes, I do.

That's me. I've lost every single time except once when I was monitoring one of those state tests and had to walk around the room constantly, not allowed to sit, and just had to stare and stare at each answer sheet to make sure they weren't inadvertantly skipping a space and thereby mismarking the entire section. (As if I could see anything from a great height disadvantage.) I put a peppermint candy in my mouth and concentrated on not chewing or breaking it. It got down to a sliver. I was so involved in my personal science project that I completely failed to note that a child was putting the answers in the science section on the answer sheet instead of the math section until it was discovered by said genius that there wasn't any space to put answer number 41.

I love cherry tootsie pops! As for other hard candies, I like them but wouldn't typically seek them out. My go to movie snack is sour patch watermelons or air head bites. I like the soft fruity candy best.

ooh!

I've never had a dentist comment on what I eat or drink, and I'm sure they could have. I did have one hygienist who talked to me about being "long in the tooth" and how that expression came about

eta: since I was editing anyway, I saw word girl's post below and that reminded me that my mom always got me a box of lemon heads whenever I lost a tooth. I'm not sure how that started, but that was the only time I ever had them. I loved to suck it long enough so that it would fit right in the hole newly vacated by my tooth

In hindsight, that seems an odd thing to do. I just got off a long phone call with my mom. Too bad I didn't think to ask her about it...

Today I learned that the red and white peppermint candies are called Starlight Mints. Color me newly informed!

My great grandmother always had a dish of lemon drop candies. Often, they became fused into one giant candy, but I digress... They are the one hard candy that I still think about, probably nostalgia.

Big fan of butterscotch here, and also like the peppermints that crumble easily -- the kind they sell in long sticks at Cracker Barrel among other places.

I do like some because it lasts longer.

And, because the last time I had one of those super delicious Carmel apple green suckers it ripped my veneer right out of my mouth.

Love butterscotch and cinnamon. Not a fan of jolly ranchers except cherry.

That said, though, my favorite candy is Werthers soft chocolate Carmel chews.

I love butterscotch, and I always kept peppermints on hand for fixing all sorts of kid ailments. One year I had some kids ask me why I only bought old people candy. One of my kids loved butterscotch. He also liked the oatmeal cream pies my coworker bought for a Pi Day activity, even though they were also considered “old people snacks” by the same kids. Some kids just know how to appreciate old people food.
