Voting survey

Is there any famous person the would influence how you vote? I cannot think of any. I think I am as smart or aware as most of them. There are so many politicians who act like it is a big deal to get a celebrity endorsement. I may listen to people I know, but even they don't generally change my mind. I do value what my DH thinks, and we generally agree.

I make my own voting decisions and no celebrity could change my mind.

Nope. I vote based on my beliefs, opinions and the facts.

But, I have lost respect for some people (stars and others) based on their political beliefs. Especially over the last few years.

Good question.

I generally detest celebrity endorsements. I mean, why would I trust Reese Witherspoon or Matthew McConaughey to tell me how to vote? And I now detest Mark Zuckerburg for throwing millions at a California tax proposition which canít touch his billions but would hurt the little guy like me.

However, I do consider the endorsements of the Los Angeles Times. Then I make up my own mind.

No celebrity would change my mind or even influence my thinking in any way unless I knew them really well and knew what made THEM tick.

Interestingly enough I thought about individuals who might change my mind and they are pretty few. Possibly my mom if she was still without dementia and my younger son. Both were/are very politically savvy. (Political activism in my family seems to have skipped a generation and landed on my son.)

No celebrity is going to sway my vote for anyone. I don't hold their opinion high enough for it to be important.

Edit:. I didn't read any of the replies before responding. I do have a spot spot for Matthew McConaughey!

No, he really wouldn't influence me. I don't even let friends or my DH influence me!

I decide how I vote for candidates based on many different factors but celebrities have zero influence on the way I vote. In fact, I really dislike it when celebrities try to use their self perceived elitist status to sway my thinking one way or another. Disgusting!

No celebrity endorsement would sway how I would vote.

Nope. There are no celebrities that i actually care what they think. About anything. Their opinions mean nothing to me on any topic.

Probably not just by endorsing a candidate. However, there are people whose writing, etc. has informed and influenced me. It generally has to be someone who has earned my respect for their knowledge, wisdom, experience in fields about which they are talking. And even then I reserve the right to disagree.

I definitely have been influenced by journalists when I read their reporting of events, speeches, etc. And for sure by investigative reports.

For example, I pay attention to what the state bar association has to say about judges running for retention.

Do I care which candidate is "endorsed" by a musician or football player? Not unless that person has actually gotten involved and informed about the issues.

No. And I am really offended by the vote naked ads. I do not want to see naked people on tv ever.

Well, let me start by saying I've never seen any vote naked ads .

I would never allow a celebrity to influence me; however, I am a person that enjoys watching all of the debates and keeping up with all of the news surrounding politics and elections. I do think that when celebrities talk about politics, it may help influence people who would otherwise not seek out any politically related news. It helps normalize caring about politics/candidates/issues, especially for young people who are just becoming old enough to vote.

No, I do not let anyone influence me. I too have lost respect for people based on who they support.

I will say I am glad I never bought a My Pillow because of who the maker supports. I also am glad I don't care for Papa John's Pizza even though the owner is no longer in control. I will stil buy Goya products though

endorsements mean nothing to me. This year I did consider the endorsements of people who worked in the administration and were in positions giving them knowledge of the goings on.

wildflowerz, I have found the same. Who is that? Is the most asked question in this house during talk shows and celebrity shows. Don't know and really finding that I don't care.
