Laundry Schedule

I'm trying to create a uniform laundry schedule to be timesaving and efficient. How many loads do you do per week? How often do you do "extras" (towels, sheets, throw blankets, etc).

Good days for me to do laundry are Mondays and Thursdays because I have Zoom classes, and my desk is right outside the laundry room door, so I can do it passively. What would be your schedule?

I usually do mine once a week. My dh and kids all do their own. I do mine and the towels/sheets. So probably 3-4 loads per week for me.

I used to be colors only, whites only, kids only, towels/sheets only. Now I just throw everything together to get a load and move on. I usually do about 3-4 loads a week, depending if I have the kids for the longer time or not.

I typically do 2 loads every other day. I do 1 load of clothing and 1 load of towels and undies. Sheets are washed about every 2-3 weeks; couch blankets every other week; bathroom rugs about once a month. I probably should wash some of those items more often, but as you all know, when you work full time, something's gotta give!

I donít have a set laundry day. When I lived by myself, I usually did a couple of loads every other week, maybe even three weeks. With two of us in the house, I usually do washing once a week.
  • 1 load of dark clothes
  • 1 load light clothes

Pet laundry and linens are more like every 4 to 6 weeks. I have multiple sets of each, so I wait until I get enough to make an entire load before I wash them.

Currently I feel like I do laundry every day. Iím taking care of my mom, and Iím doing my laundry once a week still, but I am constantly needing to wash blankets, sheets, towels, washcloths, pillows. She also has a small washer. Hers will barely hold an entire set of full sheets. Mine will hold a set of king flannel sheets and a blanket with plenty of space left.

It's just me at my house. I do my clothing laundry every Sunday. I don't get fancy- I split it into two even loads (sometimes 3 if for some reason I have more clothes from that week) and wash everything on cold, and it always turns out fine. I also dry almost everything in the dryer.

My mom taught me to do whites, darks, colors, separate load for work pants, delicates, etc. line dry half of it, iron this and that, dry this for 15 minutes and then line dry/iron, etc. 95% of it is unnecessary. My clothes look exactly the same the way I do things now.

I do sheets and towels every 2 weeks as part of my regular cleaning.

I'm one of those laundry freaks, lol. I separate by color, fabric, and washing temperature. I line dry a lot of items. I would estimate I do about 5-6 loads a week. At least 3 over the weekend and 1 or 2 during the week. But, my machine is one of those load sensor ones so it fills up with just enough water for the size of the load. And, it makes me happy to have an empty hamper and clean clothes just sorted and put away. It makes me feel organized, calmer, and in control.
I also have been known to change my linen a couple times a week, one of my simple pleasures is getting into a bed with fresh clean linen.

I have very few actual white items, so I rarely separate by color. I do separate my workout clothes from everything else. "Regular clothes" get washed in cold water on the gentle cycle, and most dried on the low setting. (I have drying racks for the pieces that can't go in the dryer.) I wash my workout clothes in cold water, but a heavier wash cycle. I usually do two loads a week, usually on Friday afternoons so I feel like I already have a head start on the weekend stuff. It's a mind game, I know. Friday nights are really exciting at my house.

Every child does his/her own laundry at my house, and I just do the laundry when our (dh's and mine) basket is full. Full basket = full load. I never did well with a schedule for laundry. We don't separate by color (the one time I did and used hot, rust got all over my whites and ruined them). Most of our stuff is dark anyway.

There's only the two of us. I do 3 loads a week: 1 cold, 1 warm, 1 hot. The bedsheets and towels are hot. The cold wash is line dried. I aim for Tuesdays. Every other week, I do an extra load of Man's disgusting yard jeans.

At least 1 load a day here. We rotate which bedroom gets done on the weekends. That adds 2-3 loads (sheets, blankets, mattress pads)

Most days it is a dark/color load. 1x per week or 2 it s bleachable whites.

It's just me. I do 2-3 loads per week. I do laundry on Saturday, when I am in and out of the house doing outdoor chores and errands.

Load 1: hot water...underwear (not bras, though), cotton socks, towels, washcloths, cleaning rags, etc.

Load 2 & 3: Cold water...everything else. I try to put bras, wool socks, and masks all in the same load if I do 2 loads, because I don't put them in the dryer. That way I only have to pick through one wet load to get those things separated. In summer I usually have 1 load, but in winter, with bulkier clothing, I have 2 small loads.

Every 2 weeks I wash sheets.

When I had kids, I just gathered up all the dirty clothes at the end of the day and tossed them in the washer. In the morning I transferred them to the dryer. When I got home from school I folded clothes and sent each kid upstairs with their clean laundry. On weekends I did sheets, towels, and other stuff.

My DH and I are retired. I usually do laundry on the weekends because electricity is cheaper. We have a load of darks and a load of mixed colors every week. Sheets and towels as needed.
