Our plan- in person

So...our plan still needs to be officially approved, but it includes at least 16 square feet per student, classroom communities, and masks for all while indoors. (I’m building my mask stamina right now!)

We need to offer a second option, so if anyone is out or wants a virtual option, we will zoom with them all day. Don’t see how that will work, but it beats doing online plans and teaching in person! Maybe I can wear an iPad around my neck and just carry it around like a body cam.

Also, no congregating with other adults, as our greatest risk is adult to adult and not from/to the kids. We also need to social distance from all, even the kids in our class. It will be interesting, but I bet I get regular illnesses a lot less often. (From my lips....)

So you will be teaching in person and virtually at the same time?

The diocese is requiring an online option, so if a student stays enrolled and wants to stay home, they can join via Zoom. Teachers teach the students who are present. Idk how the child zooming can see everything - I canít teach and be concerned about what the ones on zoom can see.

I honestly donít think it will work.

Our governor shared his plans a couple of hours ago.

Plan A...in person
Plan B...hybrid
Plan C...online

The plans are flexible depending on the needs of each community.

While he was speaking the results of real time polling were shown on the bottom.
IN FAVOR:
A...15%.
B...25%
C...52%

Obviously, it's not a scientific poll but I thought it interesting so many selected online.

Good luck! With the "classroom communities" you talked about, will you still be able to keep social distance or is that why the mask is required?

The AP told me we are still supposed to adhere to social distances even with our pod. Iíll find out all the details once itís officially approved, but itís been submitted. They donít think kids spread it or get it, but since itís a virus anyone can get it. We wonít know until weíre back so we need to be cautious. It will allow the school to know whoís been exposed and just those people quarantine for 14 days.

One or two kids zooming into an in person class? Ha! You are certainly right that it won't work!
