When does school start again for you? We start in early August. If you do, too, how does after Labor Day sound? That would give us some time to settle into routines. If not, whatever timeline would work for you is good.

Would writing once a month seem reasonable? I haven't done this before (although I did participate in a postcard exchange).

We could make it up as we go along, I guess.

If anyone is interested, I would love to have a class from Texas. This will be my second year teaching first-grade. I would love to start planning for this as soon as possible.

I would love to introduce Texas, specifically, because of its large size. (I feel this will be more relevant and easy to explain to first-graders).

Thanks,

Tomi Kaye

Hi! I am Christine and teach first grade in NJ. I am looking to become pen pals with a class for the upcoming school year. Last year my class was pen pals with a class from CA. It was fun. My only question is (and it might seem like a silly one), but do your students write in regular print format? Or are their letters slanty and somewhat cursive looking? The class from CA wrote their letters differently than we did, and it was hard for some of my students to read the letters.

Thanks!

Please email me at cwishy17@aol.com if interested

I would love to start a pen-pal exchange for my first-grade writers. I like to get them excited about having a real world purpose for writing. I live in Michigan - surrounded by the Great Lakes! Please e-mail me if you are interested - marykaysabine@yahoo.com.
Enjoy the rest of the summer break.

Dear Iheartschool,
I teach first grade in Louisiana and would love to be pen pals with your first grade class. I have done this several times and always enjoy the letters. I have never had a group of first graders from Arizona before, so this would be fun. Let me know if you would be interested. We start school the second week in Aug. Hope to hear from you soon.
