Chicka Theme in Fall?

I know it's not technically fall yet, but I just bought this book and wanted to do this for a week in october. Would it look silly to do this the first week of October? I wanted to do it more for the ABC factor than anything. Problem is, I have a teacher in the building that loves to criticize any and everything I do, so I just don't want to deal with that. Sounds crazy, I know.

I love the book though, and I love love love the song that goes with it!

Give me your thoughts!! Thanks!

when you do it. It 's too bad you have to work with someone who's so negative. Don't think about her. Think about the fun your class will have with the activities you do along with the book, The kids will love it and that's all that really matters.

She's caused a LOT of stress the past few weeks, and I'm not sure why. I don't think I've offended her in any way, but for some reason she's hellbent on bringing me down and trying to make me quit. It's sad, really, because I love my job. I love the school I work for, and I love the management. I love my assistant, and my class is working out SO well! She's the only one that makes me dread coming into work. I'm trying not to let her get to me, but she's sure to point out anything "wrong" or "out of place" in my classroom!

It sounds like she is jealous. Just keep your door closed and keep telling yourself that you are here for the kids not to impress her. Good luck.

I agree, it's petty nonsense. She just has an attidue problem! Thank you, hopefully I won't have to deal with her much longer

I used the chicka theme to start doing letters of the week. This week we are on T. I read the story the first week of school and each week I pick a new letter to work on.

I always "kick off" the alphabet with chicka early in the year. This is when I do a lot of name activities like name rubbings and such along with the chicka activities. I made a file folder with a palm tree on it that I slide their names through one at a time until they can match it with a name on the wall. They love this and older ones usually get it right away. I credit someone on the internet for the idea and can look it up if you want.

By the time you do it fall will be here (tomorrow actually). Try not to worry about the other person and keep doing your job. Don't let her make you miserable when she criticizes just smile and say ok.

There will always be nay sayers where ever you go. I also agree with emmasmimi. She's probably just jealous. Ignore her and have fun teaching.
