Moving?

I am currently a classroom teacher. Because of the budget situation in my district along with the number of teachers in my building I have been asked to move from my classroom to a new certified ESL pull-out position.

I'm just not sure about it. Has anyone made this move? What were your thoughts?

Think about the attitude toward that position...in my district, it is my position but I am the only advocate--and it is very difficult sometimes to cutt up against teachers who don't understand what you do or why you do it.
Also consider this--will you have a job if you say no

Weigh the option very carefully. If it's something you think will work for you, then go ahead.

Will you be at just one school, have to travel to other schools or have children bussed to you form other schools?

If you take the job this year will you be "stuck" as being the ESL teacher and not be able to return to a classroom?

It can be a rewarding job but it depends on the set up. Are people familiar with the needs of the students so that when the children are not pulled out they are given appropriate help or assignments?

Thanks for your advice. It is a position I have thought about in the past, but I am creating a list of questions to take to my principal before I make my final decision.
