Nearly all of my class scored a 96 or higher. What should I do with the 2 bearly passing and 1 non-passing students? They all had the same time frame and practice opportunities.

is yours. If you think that they should get a 2nd chance then give it to them but make sure they understand that you will average the two grades. If you do this you should also mark it as a retake and get the parents to sign them.

If it were me, I wouldn't give a retake. If they had the same opportunities and stuff and they don't have any type of learning disability then they get what they get. I say this because your other kids could see this as, why did I study and work hard if we could have a 2nd chance. Then they might not try as hard next time in hopes of getting a 2nd chance. Best to not start a trend. That is my opinion.

I just went through this with my class on their research paper - had 8 out of 54 who failed because they didn't correct rough draft feedback or put in their bibliography. I thought about giving them a second chance, and realized that wasn't fair to those who did take the time to do it right. Best to teach them now about consequences!
