I teach mostly pull out ESOL. Last year I had a sticker/prize box for good behavior but with furlough days and saving up for a baby I don't want something that I have to spend money one. What do you do for behavior management in your classroom?

I just convey my expectations, provide encouragement, correct misbehavior when it happens. We role play, we'll draw pictures of what is and isn't acceptable, maybe put a caption by each picture. Does that help? Oh, yes, and practice, practice, practice.

I also tell my kids that I expect them to behave because it is the right thing to do and stress the beauty of how it makes them feel to do what is right.

A huge jar of skittles! Less than a penny per prize!

I like using "coupons" for rewards. My coupons are always for non-monetary "treasures," such as extra time on the computer, wearing a hat and/or sunglasses while in my room, sitting with the class "stuffed pet" while in my room, etc. I'm sure your students could come up with some suggestions of their own!

I had stickers, too. But prizes are expensive, especially since I pay for pretty much everything out-of-pocket.
So this year, I moved to the 'school currency' only. I give it out like crazy, when kids are working well, when they give corerect answers, etc. It's so much easier, because I just hadthe counselor print a bunch off for me. They keep it in their 'banks' and I don't have to worry about it oncethey leave my room. HOWEVER, I also do sometimes tick in special 'treats' sometimes, such as playground time.
