ESL and MTSS (or RTI)

Next year, I will be switching from a third grade classroom to an ESL resource position. I am not quite sure what this will look like because we are also going to begin MTSS next year as well.

(MTSS is what Kansas calls RTI...I think).

If you use MTSS/RTI and you are in a ESL position, what does your day look like? Do you have actual classroom time with your kids, or are you wandering between rooms and working more as a para?

Hope my post is not too late...

I pull out our ELL students throughout the day. I have focus groups that consist of reading, writing, listening and speaking, and grammar. I place them into groups based on proficiency levels as well as grade levels. Each group receives intensive instruction for 30 minutes and the number of times of week is determine based on need.

Forming groups?

How did you form your groups? What assessment tool did you use to determine which student went where?

I am teaching in the Philippines where all students from preschool to high school are ESL. There are 200+ students and I am the only native speaker teaching English. The other teachers here speak English, but are not fluent. Any advice on how to service the students?
