Has anyone modified the Open Court 5th Grade Imagine It curriculum to make it better?

I so hope someone out there has. And that they are willing to share it with all of us who have to use it. I wonder if anyone has with the "fidelity" issue at stake. I don't know about you, Gotbook's, but we hear "fidelity, fidelity, fidelity". Thanks for posting. I'll keep checking to see if anyone responds to your question.

We use SRA Imagine It! at our school which is very similar to Open Court. Our selections are mainly expository text for the 5th grade reading series. I am finishing my third year teaching fourth grade this year (which has WONDERFUL selections) and moving to 5th grade next year. I am planning to bring in TONS of fiction with read alouds during whole group and novels during small group and articles with maps/charts/graphs with TFK and National Geographic.

I always modify the program because there's simply too much in there to do it all. Plus, I know what my students need better than they do. I just make sure that I maintain the same strategies used throughout the program; that's what I consider "fidelity."

Imagine It! is Open Court, just in the latest edition with the SRA name on it. SRA bought Open Court quite a while ago, but they just recently changed the name.
