Hello,

Does anyone have a letter that would go home advising parents that their child is being released from Title 1 due to progress made? Do you send a letter home when a child transfers to Special Education, and thus loses Title 1 services?

Thanks!
Mel

I don't have a typical form letter but what I do is this:

I list the beginning scores that the student had with me that year. ( I teach multiple grades.) I use what our school uses for progress monitoring: NWEA RIT band reading score, AIMS web fluency and MAZE scores, STAR reader GE. By each of these I put what a 50th percentile score is ( figuring 'average' for that grade level).

Then I list the newer, up to date, scores, which are better if the student is being released.

I will add a short paragraph about what I have seen from the student and may mention what else he/she needs to work on to maintain these scores...read at home, practice vocab, etc.

If they go to special ed, it is after an IEP meeting so parent is present so I don't write up anything special to send home, just some notes in the file.

Hope this is helpful.
