Hi ladies! Thank you, it went well! When I first walked in the office, I saw two other ladies, and as I was waiting, more people came in, so I just tried not to think about the competition and just focus on what I can bring to the table. I interviewed with the principal and a 4th grade team leader/mentor. The interview was about 20 minutes. I didn't receive many questions (don't know if that is good or bad). They basically asked how my classroom would look if they were to walk inside, how well I handle direction, classroom management, and how I incorporate technology into my lessons. I talked about how I want my students to be engaged and interactive at all times and the principal seemed to love hearing that because that's what she is working on with her teachers in her school and I made a point that if a student is misbehaving, that I will do everything I can before sending the child to the office because I don't want the child to miss important instructional time. They loved hearing that. Plus the principal heard good things about me from her granddaughter prior to the interview (didn't know the after school lady was her granddaughter) so she was excited to meet me. Overall, I think everything went well. I should hear back from her in the morning. I hope this is it! Thank you for all of the support!!!

The principal said I should hear back from her first thing this morning, but it's 12:11pm now. Usually the schools are closed on Fridays over the summer, so hopefully I hear from her on Monday if not today

I hope you get an offer soon! The great thing about the principals granddaughter knowing you is that she knows that you would be a good fit for the staff. It sounds like the positive vibes were flowing! I'll be looking for your good news!

That was only your second interview. Keep pushing; don't regret your last decision. Something better is coming your way.

I know that it is hard. Try to keep positive, but realistic. There are a few who do well right out of the gate, but most people have to put in some time as a sub or para before landing a first job and the application and interview process is brutal in most parts of the country. Hang in there and stay focused, but be prepared for a "worst case" scenario.

I think you will find something, but this time take what you can get to get your foot in the door.

I'm sorry that one didn't work out. I've been on interview committees and we always end up with more than one we'd love to hire, but don't have enough openings. I'll bet it was a difficult decision for them. Be sure to send them a thank you note anyway so that they keep you in mind for future openings. In the meanwhile, keep looking forward and keep looking. Some school is going to be blest to have you! (((Angelj)))

After moving to a new town for my husband's job, I have spent two years subbing and working part time for a local university. I have applied to over 100 positions from aide to principal and had only a handful of interviews. I made the top two once, but very discouraged thinking I may never get to work in a school again. I started applying for jobs outside education. After each rejection call or letter, I asked the p what I did well and could work on during an interview. After my last interview, I was offered the job via phone call two hours later! Keep on trying! It can happen for you in the right time.

I was just called in for another interview next week at Florida State's University School. The interview is for a 3rd grade position. I am going to research more about the school and read more interview tips
