Thoughts on TEL/TEN vs. R-CBM/M-COMP?

A colleague and I were discussing AIMSweb scores today, comparing TEL and R-CBM together and then TEN and M-COMP together. We always wonder how students can score low on the early literacy assessments but then score well on the R-CBM. This is the same with math. Students score low on TEN but then score well on M-COMP. Students obviously have good sense of either subject if they can score well on the more advanced assessments. One thought we had was that the TEL/TEN are only one-minute timings, and that throws students off. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks for your responses! We are really curious about what other educators think.
