Been offered a job

Ok, I'm in a "pickle" as they say... I went for an interview at a Christian private school last Thursday. They called back Monday with an offer and I talked to them about salary/benefits. Obviously working at a private school, the pay is lower then the public school... but it's better than I thought it would be. They have benefits/ and retirement after the first year.

For some reason I can't make up my mind. I have no other leads... this will be a 3rd grade position with 15 students. I love 3rd grade ( i have taught third grade in the past)... they use the ABEKA curriculum which I have never used (but heard its a lot like Saxton).

I NEED HELP!! Of all the advice I always give on here, I tell everyone to jump on whatever is offered. I told the principal I was praying about it, and I will let her know tomorrow.

Not sure what my hesitation is.... but I honestly can't make a decision.

SIGNED.... I need a "sign"....

If yoiu can live on the pay then go for it. You will have so many rewards teaching at this school. Trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding. You are going to have a bless year.

Think about it... you have half the kids to teach. In my classroom, I had 31 first graders. It kind of works out for you because lower pay as well as lower class size. Think of all the wonderful things you could do with a smaller classroom. Like the previous poster stated, if you can manage to live off the salary then go for it!!!

For sure go for it!! Smaller class size, a paycheck as opposed to no paycheck and experience on your resume!! Why not? I'd take the job for sure! Good luck!

If you can afford to live on the pay and need experience then go for it!

If you can financially do it, go for it. If I remember correctly you have been looking for a while. Jump at this chance. If you don't like it maybe it would be enough for you to get in public schools next year.

GOOD LUCK! and do let us know your decision

First of all- congrats on being offered a position. I think sometimes it is nerve-racking to commit to a big change. Think of it as cold feet at the wedding chapel!

If I were you, I would make a list of the pros and cons. I am very analytical- and seeing the list would help me feel like I am not jumping into anything!

And lastly- don't do anything without prayer!

Good luck!

I taught at a private school for 11 years and I loved it ...my DS was
able to go to preschool and his baby-sitter for the first 2 years was one of the pastors' wives as well being able to go to school day care free....I teach in public now and there is not a day that I do not miss the school up north .......trust the Lord and He will lead and always make a way......He always does!

Remember that confusion is not of God. As a previous poster said, make sure you put your feelings aside and ask God to let you know what choice to make.

Congratulations on the offer. After searching for a position myself, I know that an actual offers feels wonderful!

well, I've made up my mind. I'm going to take it. I am so excited about the opportunity. I have been praying a lot about this, and feel this will be a great opportunity for me.

Thanks so much for all your advice. I'm excited about doing this... I'll call the principal tomorrow. I feel like this will be a breath of fresh air, I know God has great things in store for me!!

Thanks for all the encouragement.. you guys are great!!
