Can I be "grandfathered" in?

My husband and I are thinking about moving on to greener pastures within the next couple of years. My children are college age and so we don't have to worry about schools for them. The one thing that scares me the most about moving to a new state are the teacher requirements/tests like the Praxis. Since I have been teaching for 24 years, am I allowed to skip those requirements? I know you can if you are Board Certified, but at this point I don't want to do that.

Hello,

Depends on the state to which you're moving. Visit that state's DoE and see what they have to say.

Thanks

The two states I moved to both waived testing requirements if you had three years experience.

It does vary from state to state, though. (I had actually passed Praxis I and Praxis II, but different states have different versions of the Praxis II, so I was glad that requirement was waived.)

Definitely depends on the state. Even with many years of teaching under my belt, my current state required me to redo my praxis I and II. Good luck- I hope your greener pastures don't require you to do anything extra!
