uses test scores in reading and math. for students younger than 3rd grade they use the Iowa Basic Skills test, Rigby reading, Success Maker scores, and the student record since K.
for older students we also use Scantron scores and our state test scores. I wonder sometimes how some of my students made it into the gifted program, and then they wow me and I know why.
I hope this helps.

First we screen a group using the Raven Matrix Test. Next the teacher completes several checklists on the student. Finally, the school psychometrist gives the student a one on one test for IQ. I think it is the WISC-4. The student must score at the 90th percentile or 120 IQ.

includes
Ability (CoGat or Nagliari) equal or greater than 95% in one area
Achievement (ITBS) equal or greater than 90% in one area
Creativity (Torrance) equal or greater than 90%
Motivation (GPA, GRS) equal or greater than 90%

Teachers refer, we screen, students are chosen for testing. Students must qualify in three of four areas to enter the program.

We have four windows - fall (all grades but K, 3 and 5), winter (3 and 5 only - following ITBS scores), late winter (re-evaluations from previous year), Spring (kindergarten, and any one we missed earlier).

We use the OLSAT and the CAT (Canadian Achievement Test). This is administered to all grade 4 students (students who enter our district after grade 4 can be tested individually if the teacher requests it).

In order to be identified, students must score 98% or above on the OLSAT, as well as having a high 90s mark in either Math or Reading on the CAT. This info is combined with teacher observation, parent checklist, letter from the student, and work samples in order to go through the identification process. We identify about 1-2% of our students.
