Concern about my son

I was wanting some advice. My son is in the 1st grade. He is in the gifted program. However, I do not feel that he is being challenged enough at school. The school wanted to double promote him, but he is a little guy and his dad and I didn't think he would socially benefit from that. Anyway, I was just wanting some suggestions that other schools do with students that are intellectually on another grade level.
Thanks!

Our school has pretty much determined that a child determined as gifted in 1st grade often levels out in 3rd grade. I think if you son is small, I'd agree it's not a good idea. Social development is huge between 1st and 3rd.

It really depends on your teacher. I have several levels in my class. For my higher level kids, I give them a lot of challenging work. I also allow them to help the kids in my class who need help (which keeps both levels active).

Best of luck!
