Minute to Win It

I'm looking at this show to try and adapt some for activity day instead of track & field. Has anybody done this already? We were thinking of having no time limit, and then awarding points. I've looked at all of the activities and tried to figure out about 6 that are easy for 4th - 6th graders and won't "break the bank" We also don't want to do any that are terribly wasteful. (like pulling all of those tissues out of the box) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

My kids love doing the ping pong ball in the Kleenex box
'booty shake'...
They also love the M&M's / straw challenges...and the playing card separation game is free and easy to do in classroom...would not recommend teh game with the banana swinging between the player's legs for obvious reasons--especially with this age group.haha..

I put duct tape on the end of a desk and do the marble roll game...

I think my kids will have a great time with it (You're right - no banana swing! - I've got enough pre-puberty problems)

I am planning on do some selected activities the last day of school. So excited. I also do an adapted version of Amazing Race and connect it to solving math problems. The kids really liked it last year ( and I looped with them this year) and plan on making another version this year. Any helpful hint for Minute to Win would be appreciated!

here is the Amazing Race form I created for the kids to go around and solve. Tips on how I set it up: Every group was handed a different numbered envelope (so they all weren't taking the same route). They read the clue, went to "that place", found the number to fill in their math problem. At "that place" they would find a numbered envelope that would lead them to their next clue. One problem I encountered last year was that they would find a numbered envelope on route to their next place and open it up, then their route would get all mixed up. They have to focus clue by clue (just like in the real race).

Last night, they added some new games. I really liked the one where they kick off their shoe and have to land it on the table. No props needed except a table or desk, so there is nothing to buy. I may try it at recess today.
