Title 1 Pay

I was offered a job as a title 1 coordinator/teacher for a small district. I have a master of arts in reading and literacy and over 1 year of teaching experience. I am in Michigan and wondering what pay I should shoot for.

Our coordinator, who is also a principal receives $1000 for coordinator's duties on top of the principal's salary. We are not a big district either.

Won't you be put on the district pay scale at whatever the salary is for a teacher with your education and experience? There may be extra pay negotiated for extra duties. Most of the time, this is all governed by contracts between the district and the union/association. Is this district different?

Our Title teachers get an hourly rate. It is based on the salary schedule, but they are scheduled for x number of hours per day and paid hourly.

Recently a couple were hired in the $24/$25 per hour range.

Thanks for your responses. I am enjoying the new job and the pay is based on the district scale for degree and experience.
