Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am newer to the GATE curriculum. I do not have a GATE class, but I do integrate the icons into my classroom. Last year my students had a really hard time understanding the ethics icon. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to teach this one? I teach 5th grade . . .

I teach third grade and I have used this particular icon with our language arts stories which lend themselves to asking an "ethical" question. For example, in the story The Ballad of Mulan, we talk about the decision that Mulan made to take her father's place in war and not inform anyone that she was female...Then we take a poll and see who agrees or disagrees with this and possible reasons for their answers. Here are a couple of things I've found that may help... http://www.pvusd.net/Departments/GAT.../dc_ethics.pdf
