HELP Interview next week!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi! I have previously taught first and kindergarten. This year I have been looking for a new job. I have an interview coming up to teach 3 year olds. (I am certied to teach early childhood but I have never worked with that young a group except subbing a few years back). The director will be looking for how I interact with the children at circle time. I was thinking about reading them a book "Where Going on a Bear Hunt" and have them echo me and make motions or do a song book with them like The Wheels on the Bus?" Any ideas , suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Oh I love threes! I would read Brown Bear, Brown Bear. My three year olds love this story and ask for it often. Here is a great link:

Not sure how many children will be in the group, but this is a fun activity. Instead of felt pieces, you could create puppets (laminate and put on craft sticks) out of the free printables provided by the site above. Just an idea...Good luck!

Thanks playpower! I was actually now thinking using the song old mc donald. Asking children what is a farm? Have they ever been to a farm and then singing the song with them and pulling out a picture (or a puppet-but so far pic because i dont have any puppets-but now im liking the idea of puting the pictures on craft sticks! ) and calling on a child to stand up and act out what the animal says and then doing it altogether. I don't know if my director wants them to go back and do an activity since she just said circle time-but I could always have the students go back and draw a picture of their favorite farm animal. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't ask three year olds to draw farm animals. It would be beyond most of them.

Here are your printables: http://kizclub.com/storypatterns/Macdonald(C).pdf

Good Luck!

I agree with Learntogether regarding the drawing. I utilize kidzclub often...Here is what I created for my farm puppets, though. The tractor is a big hit!

do a flannel board story

Do a flannel board story for, "The Very Hungry Catepillar". My kids love this one. I tell the story interactively and the kids giggle and giggle. I was observed by the manager of my boss and she loved my flannel board story. I let the kids hold the flannel board pieces and sometimes I turn it into a school play where each child gets to place a piece of flannel "food" up on the board. The all chant together, "And he was STILL hungry!!!" You're going to love working with the three year old children. They're a delightful bunch!!!
