Clip to ScrapBook #1

After 24 years of teaching, I am being moved to 5th grade math. I am extremely excited, but I do not have any materials. I would love any ideas that you have used to create a successful and fun math program. I would love any websites and files as well. I appreciate anything you can send my way. Thank you, thank you, thank you

website to use is themathworksheetsite dot com (substitute a . for the dot).

Dadsworksheets dot com is a good one too.

Scholastic has a great book of math games that can be played with playing cards - I get my decks at a local casino for free.

Just a tip - remember that 5th graders need those concrete representations as well, it's just that their concepts are deeper than the younger kiddos. A set of equivalent fraction circles or interlocking cubes can be great to have on hand. Also, be prepared for a wide variety of abilities!

You'll love it!

I love 5th grade, especially 5th grade math. Check out www.superteacherworksheets dot com (.com). Here, you will find a plethora of w.sheets related to your curriculum. Another great resource is http://www.ixl.com/math/grade-5.
Hope this helps!

There are some good activities at lauracandler dot com. Many are free; some you have to pay for.

We do a lot of times tables practice, too, because they still don't know their times tables!

What program does your school use? We use Investigations, but I hate it.

There is a great support book that is called "Math Steps" it covers all the standards. My old school had bought them for the class and when I moved to fifth grade I found one online for like 9 bucks and then as luck had it I found one at the good will.
