Glad it is over. Part 1 was tough. Get the weekend to breath and get ready for the math.

First year

My first year in fifth grade. I thought part 2 and 3 were fair, but my struggling writers still struggled. After all that prepping and explaining and telling them to show evidence and go back in the passage I had 6 kids who gave a minimal amount of details. It is so frustrating. I had 2 kids not finish part 1. That was a bit more difficult.

I am frightened of the math.

Part 1 was BRUTAL...I had 6 not finish. EEK! Come on now..let's test comprehension, not reading rate.

Two and three I also felt were fair, but the complexity of the essay question (from what I saw at a quick glance) is what worries me now in hindsight. I'm kind of concerned about math too...I'll just be thrilled at the end of next week....from there on out..we have LOTS of fun planned in our classroom! Yay!

We grade on the 18th and the 25th and I am so worried because I was told everyone checks out the grades from the other classes. too much pressure on me which i try not to pass on to the students.

The idea of the fifth grade essay was easy but i think that in turn made the students slack a bit and not use as many details from the passage as I would have liked.

for making me feel better! I thought Part 1 was difficult too. I have been teaching 30 years and still get stressed over these da-- tests! I can't wait until the math is over next week!

5th grade teachers at our school thought the first part of the math was the worst test ever! The way the questions were asked was confusing, especially question #8. (The one about the graphs) We thought that one was really an opinion question!

Next week we have to give NYS Field tests..... just brutal...

on both tests were difficult, especially the math. I didn't think the written parts were bad.

It'll be interesting to see how our scores are effected. Should be fun--haha! (I can't wait to see my teacher data report next year!!)

And a field test--I can't even take it! These poor kids are done!

No wonder no one wants to teach in the upper grades!!

I can see how worn out the kids are from all of this testing. We start grading tomorrow, should be fun.
