Not much of a difference until the hormones kick in mid-year. Our 5ths stay here for 6th. It might make a difference if they are the big kids on the block.

There will be some new curriculum to learn especially in science and social studies. English will be almost the same; math will have some new things. The kids: you know how hormones begin to show themselves near the end of fourth? That will escalate in fifth. It is not a gigantic change to move from fourth to fifth, but you will notice. If fifth grade is the highest grade in the school, that also has an effect.

I currently teach fourth but am being promoted to fifth next year! Well at least that is what I have been telling my class. I will have the same students plus a few others since we are merging schools. I am most excited to get to teach more social studies and science. Fourth grade gets 90 minutes a week of social studies and 90 minutes a week of science. Fifth grade gets 50 minutes a day of each! I can't wait for August!
