"who let the letters out" song

Could someone tell me how they use this song? Do you repeat each letter/sound once? or twice? It just sounds a little boring if you sing it just once for each letter. I would also flash a letter card (upper and lowercase) while singing, right? I know the tune to this song.

I went to the Dr. Jean website, and found this:

Who Let the Letters Out
(Kiss Your Brain CD)

Who let the A out? /a/a/a/a/ (Do the “Monkey,” “Swim,” “Twist,” or other
Who let the B out? /b/b/b/b/ dance moves as you say letters and make sounds.)
Who let the C out? /c/c/c/c/
Etc.

I can't afford the CD, unfortunately. This sounds like cute practice for my kids.

Thanks!

I just used it as part of my repetoire of letter/sound songs. As we sang the song I pointed to the corresonding letter on my alphabet cards that were posted on the wall.

It was always one of my students' favorite songs. You just do each letter once. I think otherwise it would be too long. It's to the tune of "Who Let the Dogs Out" and I think that's part of what made it so popular with my students.

song a lot and we stand up and then do our animated alphabet action for each letter of course with a bit of attitude and rhythm...since we haven't learned all letter sounds yet, I announce the character name during the who let the a out part and then we do action during /a/ /a/ /a/ part. Kids love it!

I made a powerpoint with it and had the letters move in different ways. Kids love this song really!

I hold up the letter bean bags and have students say the SOUNDS. As they respond I throw them to the students. Then I play the song and they throw the corresponding bean bag into a basket as we sing the song.
Later in the year, they write the letters while we sing it. Some write uppercase and lowercase, while others just write the lowercase letters.
This has been successful so far. I also model proper letter formation while the song plays and they write.

for all responses. Where would I get those alphabet letter beanbags? Are they expensive?

Alas, I don't have access to Powerpoint, and I don't know about those alphabet animation movements, either. They sound intriguing, though!

Mudpies, I will be using your great ideas in my classroom!

Have you ever stopped to think of how many kids across the country/world are benefiting from all the sharing of ideas on this website? I'm so glad I found out about this site!

In our class we just invent an action for each sound, they loved coming up with them (with lots of guidance). For /a/ we bite an apple, /c/ we act c-c-c cold, /y/ bounce a yoyo ... you can just make 'em up and they love it! We do this almost everyday and they are still thrilled.

We also use letter bean bags. I give each of my kiddies one or two bean bags and then we play the song and when their letter comes up they toss it into a hula hoop in the middle. I also have big plush letters from Lakeshore that we use sometimes. The kids LOVE this and ask to do it all the time- well last year they did, we have not done it this year yet! You can get a set of the bean bags from discount school supply or I think even oriental trading. I use the bean bags for all kinds of other stuff, also. The plush letters from Lakeshore I actually found at a garage sale for $2!!!! yay me!!!

Hi, Would you be willing to share your powerpoint? I use the song also and think that would be a great addition!

about lit being legal or not. I didn't know if you had a version without the music embedded in it. I have the music and had thought of making a powerpoint, but haven't yet. Thanks anyway.
