Good luck! Be sure to envision the successful interview in your head before the interview. It helps prepare some answers. Also, Scholastic has info for new teacher interviews you may want to review...so does Harry Wong's site. Keep us posted...we're pulling for you!
I've read all those links....I'm beginning to think I've read everything ever written on teacher interviews, !!
I just got a phone call and I will have an interview (been waiting for this one!) on Monday morning. I was sitting studying my cards (I made cards with questions/answers) and the secretary just called. Hair appt. tomorrow.....clothes have been purchased and pressed/ready for weeks. Wish me luck, .
Thanks a bunch for the advice and the encouragement. I am going to try that card idea. I have used it in the past and it is a good way to memorize ideas. I am so excited for this one. I am excited for all of our interviews. I bought new shoes and a new blouse and those fake pantyhose that only go up to your knees! It is too hot to wear the real thing!
I am going to check out those sites.
Red Square, are they called "Spanx"??? , I bought those too. I normally don't wear pantyhose or hose either...I wear sandals from early spring to fall (nice ones)....but decided to go all out for this....I tried them on and they are comfortable!
Here I am at nearly 10:30. I am nervous about tomorrow. I really hope I get this one. With all of you behind me I am going to feel great when I go in. Thank you again for the encouragement. It helps more than you know.
My hose were called...... gee, I can't remember. I love them because I don't have to wear the whole thing. They are kind of funny, like something your grandma would wear (well, that depednds on the grandma,, I guess).
I hope you get some sleep tonight. I am the same way...a million things go through my head. I studied my 'cards' for a good hour today and am going to make myself do this every day till Monday. I KNOW my stuff, but get terribly nervous when under pressure. I just want this stuff to roll off my tangled tongue as painlessly as possible.
I can't wait to hear how it went. I'll say an extra prayer tonight. Let us know!!
I never feel great after these things (could be why I don't have a job). The school, staff and principal were very nice. It would be a good job. I am still waiting to hear from a one-year position and I just saw another SS position posted today. I am going to put a packet together before I take off the suit.
Wish me luck, I need a JOB!
They said they would know by next Tuesday. The principal said that it is all in the superintendent's hands now. He asked if they could call my references.
Man, I could eat a hundred pop-tarts.
The other one said they would know by this Friday or before. Today is before and no word so.......
I could eat a lot of hot fudge sundaes too.
The more I interview, the less confident I feel. I seem to stop and judge every answer. Not getting any offers after 6 interviews has sapped my confidence.
Hugs.....I know it's got to be hard waiting. I am going to be a mess come Monday after my a.m. interview. I will re think and re trace every word. It's what I do. This will be my first interview as a cert, so I have nothing to go by except the ton of stuff I've read ( a really great book and TONS of stuff on the web).
I hope you hear first thing tomorrow and that they offer you the job!!!
I am sitting on pins and needles this morning. I have gone over and over in my mind how I should have answered questions. BAD! It is the past and can't be changed, but what is difficult is after 6 interviews and no offers...........I really don't have any confidence left.
I don't want to fall into that trap though, or I will never get a job.
I can understand your being down after 6 interviews. In the grand scheme, it's probably not that many, but still, in your shoes anyone would be a bit down as the time ticks down on August.
I logged on to see if anyone got an offer....joining this board has made me focus a bit less on myself. I really hope all of you get the job you want. I'll be waiting to hear!
May I say your line about the pop tarts cracked me up. You should definitely score points for being witty...something that students need to help them get through their days of school work. I hope you get the job.
You guys are the best. You make it easier to not troll through the cupboards looking for naughty treats.
Well, the school I interviewed with last week said they would let me know by Friday or BEFORE. Here it is Saturday and no word. I think they offered the job to someone who took the weekend to think about it and they don't want to let the rest of us off the hook until they get the yes.
The school I interviewed with this week said they will tell us one way or the other on Tuesday.
I put in another app with a district known for hiring from within and have another going out on Monday for a first grade!
I think I should put in apps for sub positions at the local districts on Monday as well.
Good luck Red Square, thanks for keeping us informed. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you will have a job very soon. Keeping us updated definitely helps us keep our faith that all of us out of work teachers will get the job we are seeking. Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress in the search for THE position!
