We have a few different graphic organizers we use. In September we always do a book study with different versions of Goldilocks, so that's where we start. Then we revisit it throughout the year with different books. When I talk about it with them, I usually talk about the beginning first, then the end, and then we tackle the middle which is always the hardest part.
I don't think you'd need one nursery rhyme for the whole week. I'd probably use one to teach the concept, and then a new one each day to review it, and one at the end of the week for them to do on their own to show understanding.
