Wondering if anyone has ever used water beads in their sand tables. Pros and cons . . . How many do you think you need to fill up the sand table. Thanks!

Yep! The kids love them. They make a mess. If you don't have your floors cleaned daily I would think twice. We use them for a week and then I let them dry out. I reuse every year. I don't know how many I use but I got a big bag of them on Amazon a few years ago and haven't used it all up because they get pretty big and you don't need a ton for them to enjoy it.

Do you have any issues with students putting the water beads in their mouths? Would the beads be a choking hazard?

I love this board! I've never heard of water beads....is it just a sensory thing? Let them play with them in a tub with funnels, measuring cups, etc? Tell me more!

We had water beads for a few weeks. My FAS kid would go and run his hands through them before and after play/movement breaks.

He doesn't need that much input anymore, so I didn't replace them after the kids popped most of them. They are cheap though, so I will get some more when I start with my new class next year.

Definitely a great sensory tool.

in the balloons as fun stress balls. The parent of a gal with autism bought them on Amazon and donated them to the class. They work for that.

We haven't used them individually.

They are the same as the little beads you can put in the bottom of a vase. They are tiny and hard, but soak up a ton of water and get to be about the size of a marble. I don't like the feel of them but my kids sure do! I put them in the sensory table with cups, spoons, etc. They do break easily and make a terrible mess, but the kids really love them.
