We just adopted this reading series for the coming school year. I have typed the spelling list for each theme. Each sheet has all the spelling lists for that theme. If you would like a copy, please send me a message.
We just adopted that series as well. Did your district get the online package? I was under the impression that we would find everything we needed online...hope the sales rep was right since I district wouldn't buy any workbooks.
I would love to see what you've done with it. I've played around with the online materials but have not done anything yet. I will PM you with my email address.
To answer the previous post-- our rep said all the materials are on line and, after looking it over, it sure looks like they are. Have you been able to get on line yet? I posted the sales' reps log on info in an earlier post about storytown. She said to pass it on to all the other teachers in our district and it wasn't even her log on info so I think it's okay to share..... be sure to check that you want to look at 5th grade materials or you will be overwhelmed by the choices (k-6)!
No, I haven't been online yet...our order only went in at the beginning of June. So far, nothing has arrived. I am using the samples just to get familiar with the anthology since I am going to be teaching reading to fifth and sixth grades. I sure hope this program is going to be user-friendly. Thanks for the tip...I'll go check out what was previously posted.
Hi!! I loop with 4th and 5th graders each year and we just adopted this series too. I would love a copy of the 5th grade spelling words. Do you know if anyone's done the 4th grade list in your school too?? Thank you SO MUCH for sharing all your hard work
What is your email? You can private message me with it. Nope, no one on 4th has done it and I seriously doubt they will, but if they do I will get a copy of it!!
Hi, I was switched from teaching 600 K-5 technology to Spanish/Tech and then last minute I am teaching 1st grade. I would love to use the words because I have a very diversified group.
My school uses Storytown. I am a Title 1 teacher. I use the Strategic Intervention Kits with students. I have materials typed up for grades 1,2,3,5 and am using the kits for grades 4 and 6 this year. If you would like a copy, please send me a message.
If you type "lakewood" in as a teacher name on www.spellingcity.com you will see the 1st-5th spelling lists that go with Harcourt Storytown. This is a fabulous site - thanks again to whoever posted it here over the summer!!!!
Thanks for the posters, Abbra. Just curious: the header for your poster is Walt Helps Out. Is that the name of your lesson 3 5th grade story? My vocab and spelling words are the same, but the story is Chang and the Bamboo Flute.
Everything I posted was made for the Strategic Intervention Kit. The stories in the kit use the same vocabulary words and comprehension skills as the whole group story, but the stories are shorter and written at a lower reading level. Because of the consistency of vocabulary and skills, the material from the Strategic Intervention Kit could also be used in whole group.
I would love this material. Let me know any needs you have and I will see if I can help. Also, do you know where I can find (in writing) how many months a student may be behind if they are working in the strategic grade levele kit. Thanks so much!
I started making "Learning Strips" to glue into their agendas each week. The parents like these because then they have a record of the words the children need to be able to read and the words they need to learn the meanings for. Also included are the spelling words and the comprehension skill.
Here are the "Learning Strips" for Grade 4 Lessons 6-10. I'm creating them as I go along this year...so that's as far as I have them made.
(I have 4 levels that I use the Strategic Intervention Kit with... so it's a lot of work!)
I am a special education teacher in oklahoma. I teach the third and fourth grade students. I am using the series with the third graders and would love some more info. on it.
Could you send me what you have for the Grade 3 Strategic Intervention Kit???And have you found any end of the Lesson Tests modified to fit the Strategic Intervention Stories??? Help!?!?! The questions and writing apply only to the regular story in the hardcover book....
Thanks.
Hello,
I know your original post was from 2007 so you've had a chance to try out the Strategic Intervention Kits for Storytown. My district is looking at three different series and as a Title teacher, I would be using the kits. There seems to be a lot to do in 30 minutes. Are there any components you really like or don't like. Are you happy with your students' progress using this program? Any insight you can give me would be very helpful. Thanks and have a good day.
My school is adopting storytown for the upcoming school year. How do you like it? ANY resources are greatly appreciated. I am very interested in your spelling lists!
This one is specifically second grade. It has some duplications with the first, but it also has the weekly study guides in Word so that you can edit them.
I would love a copy of your 5th grade spelling lists. I've been teaching 3rd grade for the last 10 years and have to switch to 5th next year. I have nothing for 5th!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I've also attached the learning strips I typed up. I would have them glue them in the front of their agenda books each week for reference. I only have the first half of the book done. I'm a Title 1 teacher and work with 5 grade levels, so I am spread a little thin.
I loved using the learning strips for 5th grade. I have switched to 2nd grade for this year and would love to use them again. If you could please post them in a word format I would appreciate it!
I would love a copy of your Harcourt Storytown spelling list. I love that you have typed them by Theme. We need a copy of grades 3-5, if it is available. Whatever you have would be greatly appreciated!
