Lesson Idea Suggestion

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I have a student that I am tutoring in an after school program. She's a bit of a tomboy and requested that the next book that we read together be about hunting. This is a little out of my area of expertise and I'm drawing a blank as to what I should have her do. I know there's a lot of chapter books that we could read together about this, but I was kind of thinking a chapter book might be a little too much for the time we will be spending together. Any ideas?

about Annie Oakley?

Annie Oakley was definitely a tomboy, and a shooter to boot.

how about The Leanin' Dog, Ole Yeller, Where the Red Ferns grows, or something like that.

Not about hunting necessarily but the Heartland Series is about a girl and her family on a farm for abused or neglected horses. All of the stories I've mentioned are great but do have a major sad theme though.
