As a first year teacher, does anyone else find themselves always worrying? I worry about what I say, what I do, what the kids say at home about me. I worry if I am doing a good job. I wish I could just relax...

I feel the EXACT same way. I'm a first year teacher too.

At least I am not the only one! I just pretty much have my dream job and I worry so much that I will do something to mess it up....

Thanks for posting. I feel the EXACT same way! I love my job, co-workers, school, and principal. I don't want to leave my job. I'm the happiest I have ever been! I'm so afraid of being non-renewed. I really wish my principal would give me more feedback. I think that would stop me from worrying as much. Right now I am a nervous wreck. Some days I feel like I'm going to be physically sick because I'm just so nervous about my performance.

I work at a school where the majority of the students are Somalian. It is very nerve racking because I do not know what the kids tell their parents and I am afraid that I will say something to offend them. It is hard working at my school because we have to be so politically correct.

I agree! I am just so happy to have a job. I worry so much about messing it up. I waited so long to get a good job!

I feel the same way but what I've found really helps is writing bunches of lesson plans ahead of time. That way when i go home at night i can do things in front of the tv without needing to pay to much attention.

I love my school and the staff and my principal. Everyone is super nice and very supportive. They understand that its my first year and are helpful and encouraging. It helps, but i still worry that my kids aren't learning anything from me.

I was hired a week before school started so I am still trying to get organized. We are also implementing the mondo book system now and its really confusing and stressful. My worry most of the time is that I am behind the other teachers on my team, or I'm not doing things quickly enough.

Parent conferences are coming too... talk about scary.

This is my 23rd year of teaching and I still worry about everything - what I say, do, etc. I think it's our personalities - plus it makes us good teachers!

I agree 100%! I have the same feeling all the time. I worry about my job, but mostly I notice that I obsess about my job and my classroom and my responsibilities all the time!!! I suffer from migraines, so bad that this year I have seen several specialists all because of the stress. I wish I could let it go or find a way to not let it control every aspect of everyday of my life, but my first year teaching is totally overwhelming me!! As much as it stresses me out though, I wouldn't trade it for the world, I love the rewards, just not the migraines!
