Math and reading rotations work quite well in second grade. My student teacher and I started to talk about trying it with social studies and science. Please let us know what you've tried at this level as well as what works and what doesn't.

My GL and I each take a unit for Science and become experts and rotate the kids. We do Science 2 days a week for 45 mins and each unit is about 5 weeks. We do not do this for SS---in the past I have worked on teams where we would take a unit and rotate the kids for a week or all day to each do a lesson...Christmas and Thanksgiving were big times. I enjoy the science rotations because I get to know the whole GL, which is great for the playground and school climate. It is also nice to know who the kids are as we talk about them in our PLC meetings.
