We use 100 Book Challenge in our school. I have 2 kids reading chapter books above grade level. I need some type of repsonse activity they can use since I can't meet with them to disucss each chapter book for 1 or 2 kids. Does anyone have a book report or other activity I can use for them to get more out of their independent reading?

I have just been following the Common Core standards. Name the Who, What, When, Where, Why. Summary. Compare and Contrast...I have my studends draw a Venn Diagram in their reading response books and either compare/contrast themselves to a character in the book or compare/contrast two characters.

I don't know if this is right or not but this is what I have been doing!

I like to get a written response from students after independent reading exercises.

I usually model how to complete each one with a read aloud picture book. Then the students are able to use it independently for their own books. I use one several times in a row to allow them time to practice that form of response before introducing another type of response.
