Expected to go next week...

Clip to ScrapBook #1

So my district is on spring break this week. We have heard nothing from our district until an email a few minutes ago. They fully intend for us to be at school like normal starting Monday.

Have people lost their minds??? I am so angry I can hardly type. They want to jeopardize MY life so others wonít be inconvenienced for a baby sitter? Or we must prepare for the test, regardless of people DYING??

There are no known cases in my town but within an hourís drive there are several. People are on spring break this week, many out of state. Many are currently at the beach and just saw pics on Facebook of some coworkers out at the mall. Also I know of several students who went to Disney last week (missed a couple of days of school.)

Am I over reacting? What would you do? Iím keeping my own child at home, I know that.

It's only Tuesday. Give it a couple days. Even the New York mayor folded (seriously he was having screaming matches with aides, some of whom threatened to quit, before he finally agreed to close schools.)

We were supposed to go in Monday and work on packets, right up until very late Sunday afternoon or early evening, and then it changed. Now it's "no employees will be allowed in buildings."

I agree to give it some time. We went from a Thursday "Get packets ready by Tuesday in case we close." to a Saturday night "We're closing effective Monday." It was VERY fast! It may be the same in your district.

I agree with other posters. We went from Friday at 1:00 pm that we would be reporting this week to Friday at 5:00 pm that we would be out this week.
And now our governor has us out until April 7th at least.

We do not get a Spring Break but otherwise, the timelines are the same.

Friday -we were still hearing the school would continue as is.
Monday afternoon -we were told to prepare packets covering up to two weeks due WEDNESDAY.
Tuesday mid-morning -we were told the closing would occur end of the day. We were still expected to work out something to send home.

No, you are not overreacting. Quite honestly, if they did not close, I would call in sick every day until they did close.

My school made the decision to close this week, but had they not, I already knew I was not going back.

My district closed last Friday. The Monday before the district started planning. It went from kids home, faculty and staff reports. By Wednesday it was admin and assistants only and send home all books and laptops daily. Friday afternoon it was announced closing at the end of the day for everyone. Itís early, give it time. The way this is growing, you will be home.

Has your state

called a state of emergency yet? More and more states are. If they do then you won't have school. It isn't just up to the local S and Bd. of Ed.

Everything is changing so fast I think your school is holding off and waiting until they can make the decision once instead of telling you a time period now and having to up date it over and over.
