I would like to download a youtube video so I can show my students without going on the internet. I used to be able to do that using a program called Kibase. That no longer works. Does anyone have a program they use? Our private school frowns upon opening the internet in front of the students. Is there a way to save a video and then show without internet. Thanks

This is an exactly what you’re looking for, but it might work for you. You can go to the VireoLink website (link below), enter the link for your YouTube video, and generate a new link. When you use the video link you generate, nothing except your video will show. There are no pop-ups or advertisements or “next” videos showing. I just noticed that there is a link to download your video. It uses another program, and I haven’t tried it, but it might work for you. Look just below where the video is playing.

On my Windows personal computer, I use Downloader for YouTube by One Click. It has tons of ads on my end, but I download, save as mp4, and upload to my Google Drive. That way, I know exactly what I'm showing or hosting. The ads do not transfer with the video.

Thanks everyone. Video.link no longer supports downloading the youtube video for viewing without internet as Youtube has changed its policies.
When I tried the other one mentions (one click) - this is what I got

Due to restrictions of the Chrome Web Store, download from YouTube is not allowed."

Our district has a license for playposit, where you can make an assignment using a video and insert your own questions into it. That’s been my work-around for the inability to download YouTube videos. I don’t know if they have a free option.

Another option might be to screen record it.

this tip for an "ad-free" experience on youtube was shared with our staff before break: Did you know? When sharing a link to a YouTube video - add a Hyphen (-) after the 't' and it will share an "ad free, full screen, view only" link

so if the web address is youtube.watch/teachersarecool....
yoiu would copy/paste and then add in the hyphen:
yout-ube.watch/teachersarecool
