Anyone watch Matt Smith's farewell? I loved that somehow Amy came back once more to call him Raggedy Man. (Don't care that her appearance made no sense....)

While I loved him, I was getting tired with all the back stories. Hope they return to more stand alone episodes for a while. Long wait until return in August!

No cable here, it won't be on netflix for a couple years probably, don't want to pay $8 for it on iTunes.

I was hoping it was River coming down those stairs and was slightly disappointed to see Amy. I never cared much for Amy as a companion unless she was with Rory. Strangely, I didn't care for River at all the first time I watched the episodes. I rewatched every episode since 2005 in preparation for the 50th anniversary and discovered I *really,* *really* liked River. I found the same to be true of Matt Smith. I didn't like him much as the Doctor when he started and it took me a very long time to accept him. But I was sad to see him go. I am looking forward to seeing what Capaldi can bring to the role. I don't want to wait until August thought! Oh well, maybe new episodes of Sherlock coming out will help...

It was only $2.99 on iTunes when I looked.

I still can't bring myself to watch the Matt Smith episodes. I miss David Tennant.

More backstory, more better!

Having watched the show since Doctor #2 in the 60s, it's all about the backstory for me. Watching Day of the Doctor and noticing all of the Easter Eggs that were peppered throughout the episode was epic.
Having to explain every single obscure reference to my wife, while she shook her head and muttered "geek" under her breath...priceless.

Amy rather than River...I love them both, but the sadness experienced by The Doctor when Amy chose to go with Rory into the past (Angels in Manhattan) made Amy the perfect choice. I get the feeling that River will be back soon...

If you didn't catch all of the little mini-episodes posted online that help explain some of the plot, I suggest you head to BBC America and search their Doctor Who page. There's a great one of Paul McGann - the one-off Doctor - and his regeneration into........Spoilers!

I really think you and I should be related... your screen name and Dr. Who fan being my reasoning!

Long lost cousins!

Anyway, I didn't like Matt Smith at first- I mean, c'mon no one wanted Tenant to leave, so of course the next one would be a hard pill to swallow~at first. He did eventually grow on me and I loved his innocence and quirkiness! I will miss him hugely!

Thanks for tip on little back stories! I keep re watching old episodes and love how clues are dropped along the way. That said, it was starting to be too much for me to unravel!

I was a bit disappointed in Matt's last episode. It just felt flat and unfinished somehow. I didn't like him at first but he grew on me. I really think the writing needs to improve. I'm hoping it does for Capaldi's Doctor.

#9 is still my favorite and I think it was incredibly hard to come after David Tennant. I remember how much I hated David Tennant in that first episode because I just wanted Eccleston back. I liked Capaldi's entrance and have high hopes that it will be great.

...you must be my sister's cousin's uncle's daughter twice removed from my grandpa's side of the family.

Each time a Doctor left, there was a huge storm of outrage from the fans. How could you get rid of...? He was perfect!

And yet...once the episodes started, and the new Doctor got a foothold in the roll, many, if not most, were back in love with the series.

Heck, I'd love to see Capaldi racing around in Bessie, just for kicks.

For a great Doctor Who parody (done for charity), check out this post:
"Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death"
FYI: It's British, so it has some, ah... "adult" dialogue.
