Anyone have one of these? What are your thoughts? Do you have a different mattress you absolutely love? DH & I need a new mattress so I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinions.

TIA!

We had a sleep number bed for several years.

I see it as a glorified air mattress. We didn't really think it was that comfortable until we unzipped it and put a memory foam topper inside the cover. The sides didn't have enough support and broke down. We recently replaced our sleep number mattress with a memory foam (icomfort) mattress. We like it much better.
I know other people who have sleep number beds who love them. Do your research before you buy.

BTW, when you buy an icomfort mattress, you can try it for 6 months as long as you buy their approved mattress protector. If you don't like it they'll give you your money back.

I considered a Tempurpedic mattress, so I went to a motel that had them to try it out. I absolutely hated it! It burned me up.

Maybe you can find one to try first.

I ended up with a traditional mattress. I wish I hadn't got the pillow top, but it like it otherwise.

I really like my temperpdic-like mattress. The kids are always sneaking into our room to get on the bed. Very comfortable. Not squishy. I didn't find it too hot.

We recently got the Allure by temperpedic and LOVE it! It did take a few days to get used to it! we also got the boxspring that goes up and down LOVE that too! The mattress seems a little hard when you first get on it but then you kinda melt in to its fabulous!

MIL and FIL have had a sleep number for several years and really want to get something else.

DH and I have had a Tempur-pedic for about 18 months and LOVE it. We do not have a problem of being too hot with it. Ours is one of the more firm models and even with its firmness, it still forms to our bodies. I had my first 2 pregnancies on a "regular" box spring mattress, and it was terrible both times from my 4th month on. With my Tempur-pedic this last pregnancy, I slept comfortably without having any other pillows or anything else for support until my last month, but at that point I was uncomfortable while asleep or awake !

We have had a sleep number for many years and I did not like it at all. I often found the old mattress in the spare bedroom more comfortable. Then I saw the sleep number on QVC and they were saying how a lower sleep number is what most people use. I had always had mine on 100. I lowered it to 50 and do find it more comfortable.

I love my sleep number bed! I need a very soft bed. My mom has a memory foam and it's not soft enough for me. After one night, it really hurts my back. The only place I can sleep more than one night comfortably is in my sleep number bed.

I love mine! I really like that DH can have his one way and I can have mine at a different setting. It has made a huge difference in my back pain in the mornings.

You do have to get the number right for you. I tend to go any where in between 35 and 50, depending on how my body feels. In the store that have a computer that will help target your number, so that was where I started.

Do not waste money on their pillows though! They are horrible!

A good friend has the sleep number bed, says it is ok. She is not too impressed. Her husband does not like it. We bought a temperpedic four years ago and we love it! I don't find it to be too hot(yet). Maybe in a few years!

We have 2sleep number mattresses. The first one we bought was a mid-level price, and is extremely comfortable. The second is the cheaper version and not as comfortable.

My husband has 2 sleep number pillows and absolutely loves them. He is very hard on pillows and these have held up well. I would say they are worth the money.
We looked at getting a sleep by number bed but couldn't get much help, so went with something different.
My parents and sister both LOVE their sleep by number beds.

for all your replies! I like the idea of the foam mattress. But I don't think I can actually afford Tempurpedic! Also, DH is hot a lot and I have gotten to that hot-flash point in my life, too, so the heat thing is a factor for us. We will keep doing our homework & checking into various options. My back was so sore when I got up this morning, I just can't wait to get rid of this old one!
